Background & Teaching Experience |
|
Having
studied at The Doon School, Dehra Dun, St. Stephen's
College, Delhi and at the Oxford College of Technology, U.K.,
Bose ventured into the field of education by taking a
teaching post in 1967 at The Doon School (one of the
premier schools in India) and has been involved with
education since. |
|
Soon
after his assignment at The Doon School, Bose moved to
join Dr. Graham's Homes in Kalimpong, West Bengal - a
co-educational school for under privileged children from
broken homes. Here he came face to face with the
psychological problems facing children coming from an
emotionally traumatic background. He learnt how to tackle
such children so as to bring out the best in them. |

| Starting
a School |
|
After
a few years in Kalimpong, Bose felt it was time he founded
his own school which would inculcate the best of public
school education but be available to those who cannot
afford to go to one. Thus Bose founded and started the
Cossipore Junior English School in 1976 from scratch.
Because of the curriculum, personalized attention to each
student and by looking into every detail, the school
became a huge success. Students came from far and wide. It
is now a high school called Cossipore English School with
over 2000 students. Bose donated his school to the
Ordnance Factory in 1980 after he found out that the institutional
foundation which he had laid was strong enough for others
to carry on his work. |

| Starting
a Montessori and Primary Teacher Training Centre |
|
A
major problem which Bose faced in his school was shortage
of good pre-primary and primary teachers. So the thought
of starting a Montessori and Primary Teacher Training
Centre was a natural conclusion in the entire spectrum of
managing a good school.
The Calcutta Montessori Training Centre was established in
1983. The curriculum set was both practical based and job
oriented.
From the beginning the Training Centre was in correspondence
with numerous schools. These schools contacted the Centre
as and when vacancies arose for new teachers and most
candidates were selected in the first interviews. With
time students coming out of this Training Centre were
working in schools all over India and abroad. The students
were also guided on how to start their own schools and
many did so and are still doing. Gradually with the growth
of popularity of the Training Centre, students from other
states are also enrolling to receive their training here.
The Centre has grown from strength to strength and
continues to grow. |
